Its multi-performance feature allows the driver to be totally absorbed in the GT-R's abilities, on whichever road they are travelling. Nissan GT-R NISMO delivers factory-tuned supercar dynamics with advanced aerodynamics and ultra-precise handling. We welcome car fans to come and have a look at the latest model of this iconic vehicle.”

Motorsports-inspired technologies

The Nissan GT-R NISMO features exclusive styling that embraces the longstanding racing philosophy. It incorporates numerous motorsports-inspired technologies to enhance the car's performance, including optimised aerodynamics and specially tuned suspension and powertrain, creating a well-balanced machine that excels on both the road and track.

A supercar that sculpts the wind

Rather than being designed to the demands of aerodynamics, the GT-R sculpts the air to its needs, becoming a force of nature as well as a force to be reckoned with. Instead of treating it like an enemy, the GT-R makes it an ally by creating a vortex on the front fascia that sends swirling air to the wheels, cooling the brakes and enhancing efficiency.

GT-R has an undeniable presence and stance, but to the air, it looks like a low-slung, mid-engine exotic with barely room for two, let alone four. The Nissan GT-R team spent two years at the Lotus Group’s rolling-road wind tunnel in Europe and eighteen months in Yoshitaka Suzuka in Japan to bring the secrets of supercar aerodynamics to the street.

Crafted with Takumi-like precision

GT-R NISMO’s front end features a freshened face highlighted by a new bumper and are made of carbon fibre, crafted with Takumi-like precision where layers of carbon-fibre sheets are carefully overlapped to achieve the ideal amount of stiffness. The canards have been designed to improve airflow around the vehicle. And, to help cool the car’s high-output engine, the dark chrome "V-motion" grille, with an updated mesh pattern, representing one of Nissan's latest design signatures - has been enlarged to provide better engine cooling, while the bumper sides were optimally reshaped to retain the car’s air drag and downforce. A new, significantly reinforced hood avoids deformation at extremely high speeds, allowing it to keep its aerodynamic shape always. Overall, the car’s new shape generates more downforce than any other Nissan production car to date, which in turn results in exceptional high-speed stability.

Twin-turbocharged engine

An engine designed to answer the demands of a supercar for the 21st century, the VR38 is high-performance while still being fuel-efficient and conscious of the environment. Dubbed the “VR38DETT,” the GT-R NISMO’s engine, which produces a remarkable 441kW (600PS) is the result of the expertise that NISMO has gained from participating in motorsports events around the globe. Mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox, it features a pair of high-flow, large diameter turbochargers used in GT3 competition. Each GT-R NISMO engine is hand-assembled from beginning to end in a special clean room by meticulously trained technicians, with an aluminum plate added to the front of each engine showing the name of the Takumi engine craftsman. The engine delivers a Maximum speed of 315km/hr.

IHI Integrated Turbocharger

An IHI turbocharger is mounted on each bank of the engine. By combining the exhaust manifold and turbocharger into a single unit, the amount of intake and exhaust is optimised. A larger intercooler is installed for more efficient cooling. To ensure there is no turbo lag as torque rises, high-precision electronic controls are employed. 565 HP Closed Deck and Ladder Frame Structure The cylinder block features a closed deck for strength.

For added strength, a ladder frame structure was also adopted to give the crankshaft added support, important for the engine’s massive torque. Magnesium alloy was selected for the oil pan and rocker cover for its light weight and strength.

Independent intake and exhaust system for higher horsepower and better response than a naturally aspirated engine, each side of the VR38 features its own turbocharger, intercooler, and catalyst. By employing an independent intake and exhaust system for each side of the V6, intake air flow is increased and exhaust back-pressure is decreased. Plasma Coating Bore Innovative plasma-sprayed bores are used in each cylinder instead of traditional cast-iron liners. This enhances cooling and reduces friction and weight while maximising horsepower and increasing fuel-efficiency. Compared to the cast-iron liner, the overall weight decreased by approximately 6.6 pounds (3 kg).

Oil cooler with thermostat for optimal control of engine cooling, the VR38 features a thermostatically controlled oil cooler system. A scavenger pump is employed to help keep oil flowing to the turbochargers, even during the strong lateral Gs experienced on a racecourse.

The GT-R’s Premium Midship (PM) platform layout places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle without the use of traditional torque tubes, allowing the suspension to operate independently and optimise tire grip at each corner. This enables the use of the world’s first independent rear transaxle All-Wheel Drive system. To further enhance handling, the input and output shafts are slanted and flattened out to lower the centre of gravity. Dry sump lubrication system ensures stable lubrication for the transmission even when cornering. The system sprays transmission oil directly onto the gears, reducing friction and increasing reliability.

Despite its potent nature, the new GT-R NISMO boasts an impressive overall balance, evolving into a car that can be enjoyed as much on a winding mountain road as on the local race circuit.

Revitalised interior

GT-R NISMO is also the benefactor of the GT-R’s refreshed interior, with the cabin possessing a more upscale feel than ever before. The shape of the dashboard adopts a "horizontal flow" that delivers a sense of increased stability for the car's front-seat occupants, while the line from the instrument cluster to the centre console provides a distinct driver-oriented environment for those behind the steering wheel. The enlarged 8-inch touch-panel monitor features large icons on the display screen making it simple to use, while a new Display Command control located on the carbon-fibre centre console allows easy operation without having to touch the monitor. The shift paddles are now mounted to the new steering wheel, allowing drivers to change gears mid-turn without having to take their hands off the wheel.

The redesigned dashboard, steering wheel and centre armrest are covered with high-quality Alcantara® leather. In addition, unique to the GT-R NISMO are the leather-appointed Recaro® carbon fibre bucket seats with red Alcantara® inserts.

Upgraded all-wheel-drive

The performance of the all-wheel-drive GT-R NISMO has also been upgraded, thanks in part to the standard model’s significantly reinforced body. The stiffened body structure allowed the engineers to further refine the GT-R NISMO’s shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers, all of which, when combined with the car’s added downforce, result in an accurate and flexible suspension with better grip. The GT-R’s special Bilstein® DampTronic driver-adjustable system — which utilizes multiple vehicle information systems to provide appropriate damping forces and high levels of controllability for a variety of driving situations — features special NISMO-tuned shock absorbers that effectively helps transfers the power of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6, to the road surface.

Ties with racing

The GT-R NISMO emphasises the ‘R’ in its nomenclature. Its direct ties with racing makes it at home on any racetrack, providing the highest levels of excitement and exhilaration for the driver. With the 2017 GT-R as a starting point, the new NISMO version has become a more well-balanced machine, with not just increased performance, but a heightened premium feel overall. It is the result of Nissan’s relentless pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure.

The Nissan GT-R NISMO is available in five different exterior colours.
